Narayan Murthy is an Indian businessman. He is famous as a co-founder of India's one of the biggest IT company Infosys. He is the Non-Executive Chairman and Chief Mentor of Infosys Technologies Limited. He is a living legend and an epitome of the fact that honesty, transparency, and moral integrity are not at variance with business acumen. 

He was born on 20 August, 1946 in Mysore,Karnataka. His full name is Nagavara Ramaroa Narayana Murthy. He was born in a middle class family to Sri R H Kulkarni and Vimala Kulkarni. 
He married to Sudha Murthy. Sudha Murthy is an author and social worker. They have a son Rohan and a daughter Akshata.
He pursed his BE degree in electrical engineering from the university of Mysore. Later he completed his master's degree from IIT kanpur in 1969.
He started his career at IIM ahmedabad. There he worked on the time sharing computer system and designed a basic interpreter for ECIL.
In the beginning, he started a company sofronics. But he was not successful at that time. He joined Patni computer systems in pune.
In 1981,he borrowed Rs. 10,000 from his wife and started Infosys with 6 other partners. Under his leadership, Infosys became a large IT company of India. Infosys was the first Indian IT company which was listed on NASDAQ.
He remained CEO of Infosys from 1981-2002. He served as the chairman of the board from the 2002-2011. He took retirement in 2011. But in 2013, he returned to Infosys as executive chairman and additional director.
He has received many awards such as - Padma vibhushan (2008), Padma shri (2000),indo-French forum medal (2003). In 2003, he was named Asia's businessman of the year by fortune magazine.
The Economist ranked Narayana Murthy eighth on the list of the 15 most admired global leaders (2005) and Narayan Murthy also topped the Economic Times Corporate Dossier list of India's most powerful CEOs for two consecutive years - 2004 and 2005.
